Preparing your car for summer in Georgia

Summer car care in Georgia depends on where you park and which roads you use. Outdoor parking brings sun and cabin heat; highway trips bring insects and road abrasion, dusty sections bring dirt, and coastal trips can leave salty contamination. Here is what to check before a trip and how to choose washing, polishing, body protection and interior care according to condition.

Before heading to Kakheti, Batumi, the mountains or another long route, leave time for inspection and agreed work. Preparation helps address existing contamination and visible defects. It cannot guarantee no chips, and not every vehicle needs a complete protection programme.

Summer exposure: parking, roads and contamination

In Georgian conditions, summer stress comes from several sources at once.

The first factor is sun and parking. For frequent outdoor parking, consider cabin heat and the condition of interior materials. Leather and plastics do not all need the same treatment: check vehicle instructions and product compatibility. On dark paint, inspect visible wash marks before choosing correction.

The second factor is your routes. For regular highway, mountain and dusty-road use, assess the bumper, bonnet, headlights and mirrors. Door edges and the boot loading area face different everyday wear. Choose covered areas for those risks rather than the season alone.

The third factor is insects, tree sap, bird droppings, tar and dust; coastal trips can also leave salty contamination. Address persistent deposits with a compatible method rather than waiting for the next full wash. Do not scrape or rub dry dirt across the paint; first confirm a suitable treatment for an unfamiliar finish.

The fourth issue is comfort and visibility. Check clean glass and cabin condition before a long drive, and have AC performance checked according to vehicle instructions or by a qualified service provider. Window film can help with solar heat, but does not replace functioning AC or prevent a parked car from heating up.

What to check before a trip

The right way to prepare for summer starts not with polishing or ceramic coating, but with inspection. First, you need to understand the car’s current condition.

Start with the body: chips, deep scratches, haze and earlier treatments. Choose protection for the actual surface condition. Film and coating need appropriate preparation, but not every car needs deep polishing; the permissible correction is decided after inspection.

Follow the vehicle manual for technical checks and use a qualified service provider where needed. These are trip-preparation checks, not mechanical repairs included in detailing:

• tyre condition and pressure;
• brakes;
• oil, coolant and washer-fluid levels;
• filters;
• AC operation;
• battery condition.

In short, the best scenario is simple: first understand the real condition of the car, then choose the right cleaning, correction, and protection strategy.

Washing and persistent contamination

Remove dirt with an appropriate wash before assessing the finish. Tar, sap and insects need compatible products rather than dry rubbing. Work in shade on cool surfaces and follow the instructions for the car, installed film, coating and cleaning products.

A surface-preparation outline, adapted to the material and instructions:

1. remove loose dirt without rubbing it dry;
2. select a compatible pre-cleaning product;
3. hand wash carefully with clean equipment;
4. assess persistent contamination and treat it with a suitable method;
5. rinse away the product and dry carefully.

Snow foam and one chemical-treatment sequence are not universal for every vehicle and finish.

When polishing is needed and how it differs from protection

PPF: choosing areas for a trip

If you drive on highways often in summer, head to mountain regions, or do long routes regularly, the main question becomes: how do you protect the front end from chips, small impacts, and road abrasion?

Paint protection film creates a physical barrier on covered panels and can absorb some road impact. It does not make the car invulnerable: performance depends on the specific material, coverage, installation and exposure. Confirm the selected series terms rather than transferring one product claim to every film.

Assess areas facing different kinds of wear when choosing coverage:

• bonnet;
• front bumper;
• headlights;
• front wings;
• mirrors;
• sills;
• handle recesses;
• boot loading area.

Ceramic coating for gloss and care

Body ceramic coating starts at 500 ₾; the current BESTAUTO offer provides protection for up to 3 years. It helps with gloss and surface care, but washing is still needed. Life and care depend on the selected product and use; changed water behaviour alone does not establish remaining life.

Ceramic coating does not replace the physical PPF barrier. Choose by the task:

• road damage to selected panels: discuss PPF and coverage;
• a combination: agree compatibility, covered areas and installation order first.

Window film and glass care

Choose window film for the glass concerned, light transmission and specific series performance. Darkness alone does not establish heat rejection: LLumar also describes clear films that reduce solar heat. Consider visibility and conditions of use on each window rather than choosing the darkest film. Glass rain protection starts at 150 ₾, separately from tinting; it must suit vehicle instructions, cameras and wipers. For example, the Tesla Model 3 manual restricts windshield treatments; one model’s rules do not apply to every car.

Interior care according to condition

Inspect the cabin before choosing cleaning:

• remove dirt from fabric, leather and other surfaces using compatible products;
• identify the cause of an odour and discuss ozone treatment separately;
• select care for the specific leather or synthetic material;
• clean plastics gently without a universal UV-protection promise;
• clean glass and accessible surfaces without treating this as ventilation-system servicing.

Interior-cleaning categories start at 400/500/550 ₾, all with the same work scope. Dirt and pet hair determine price; ozone treatment is a separate 70 ₾ service.

Light upholstery, children or pets are reasons to inspect condition, rather than automatic reasons for the highest cleaning category. Ordinary cleaning may be enough. Select conditioners and protectants for the specific material and vehicle instructions; not all surfaces allow the same products.

1. inspect body, glass, headlights and cabin;
2. wash appropriately and assess persistent contamination;
