It's an ideal environment and situation!
Cabin ozone treatment is one of those methods with two opposing misconceptions circulating at once. The first — that it is "just an air freshener with a scientific name": the smell is masked and comes back within a week. The second — that ozone "sterilises the cabin forever", kills every living thing, and the car becomes an operating room. Both are myths. Real cabin ozone disinfection works at the level of chemical bonds: odour molecules and microorganisms are physically destroyed, not masked. But the procedure has limits — without physical cleaning (i.e. dry cleaning before ozone) the effect lasts only a few days. Below — how the method works, what it costs (+50 ₾ on top of dry cleaning), when it is mandatory, and when it is money thrown away.
Ozone (O₃) is oxygen in an active form: regular atmospheric oxygen is O₂, ozone is three atoms in one molecule. The third atom is unstably bonded and tries to detach at the first opportunity. When it does, a chemical reaction starts: the oxygen atom joins whichever organic molecule is nearby and destroys its structure.
For smells, here is how that plays out. Nicotine, sweat molecules, volatile compounds from rotting food, bacterial metabolites — these are organic structures with specific bonds that the nose reads as "odour". Ozone breaks those bonds, and the molecule becomes something the nose no longer picks up. The smell is not "overridden" — it physically ceases to exist.
The picture with bacteria, fungi and viruses is similar. A cell membrane or a viral capsid is also organic molecules. Active oxygen oxidises them, the membrane collapses, the microorganism dies. Medicine uses ozone for water sterilisation, industry uses it for ventilation cleaning. A car is a small enclosed volume in which ozone works on the same principle.
Important caveat: at room-scale concentrations, ozone is not breathable. That is why the generator runs in a sealed cabin with no people, operates for 20-40 minutes, and requires 30 minutes of airing afterwards — so the residual O₃ decays back into regular O₂. After that, sitting inside is safe.

The procedure itself:
1. Cabin preparation. Windows closed, ventilation on recirculation (so ozone circulates inside instead of venting outside). Ignition in "ACC" position to keep the climate system running.
2. Generator placement. The ozonator (industrial, 10-20 g/h output) goes on the driver's seat or in the front footwell. Plugged into the studio's 220 V supply, started on a timer.
3. Run. 20-40 minutes depending on cabin volume and contamination. Sedan — 20-25 minutes, SUV — 30-35, minibus — up to 40. During this time ozone concentration inside is tens of times higher than the breathable limit — and that is exactly what is needed to fully break down odours and microflora.
4. Airing. Generator off, all doors and windows open, ventilation switched to full fresh-air draw. 30 minutes minimum, no exceptions. In that window ozone decays back into regular oxygen and concentration returns to atmospheric baseline.
5. Check. The manager gets in, checks for any "electric" smell (ozone smells like the air after a thunderstorm) — if present, another 10-15 minutes of airing. The car is handed over only when residual smell is zero.
Cabin ozone is +50 ₾ on top of dry cleaning. It is not mandatory and the studio does not push it. Five situations call for it; three do not.

Ozone is often confused with two other cabin disinfection approaches — steam and air fresheners. The difference is fundamental.
An air freshener masks. It destroys nothing, it adds a competing scent that covers the background odour. Effect duration — while the freshener lasts, which is days at best. No impact on the odour source.
Steam (150-180°C) works physically: heat denatures proteins, softens grease, kills most surface bacteria. But steam does not penetrate deep — 1-2 mm into upholstery at most. For nicotine in foam or bacteria inside seams, that is not enough.
Ozone goes wherever air goes. Into foam, into the adhesive layer, into the headliner, into the ventilation ducts — anywhere with an air gap. It is the only method that reaches deep odour sources. Its weakness: it does not wash or clean anything itself. So ozone and steam are not rivals but complementary — steam treats the surface, ozone the volume.
Ozone is a gas, and it is toxic to breathe. That is a medical fact, not marketing alarmism. The threshold for mucosal irritation in a healthy adult is 0.1 ppm; at 1 ppm it is already dangerous. During the procedure, cabin concentration reaches 5-20 ppm. That is why:
No fruit, flowers or groceries inside — ozone oxidises them and they develop a metallic aftertaste. Electronics (dashcams, navigators) are fine — their casings are unaffected.

Ozone does not accumulate in upholstery, so "regular ozone maintenance" makes no sense. It is done on demand.

Separate case — emergency. If something spills inside (milk, wine, meat juice) and an odour develops — physical source removal first (tearing down the zone, replacing saturated carpet if needed), then dry cleaning, then ozone. On its own, without physical cleaning, ozone cannot fix the problem: it will oxidise the smell in 30 minutes, but a week later the source starts releasing molecules again.
From 50 ₾ as an add-on to dry cleaning. Ozone is not offered stand-alone — it only makes sense after the cabin has been physically cleaned.
