Not every car needs polishing before ceramic coating. If the finish is in good condition and you are happy with its appearance, preparation to the chosen product’s instructions may be enough. If you want to reduce wash marks, haze or holograms, discuss paint polishing first. Ceramic coating does not replace that correction.
Application requires removal of contamination and incompatible residues, with a clean, dry surface prepared for the selected product. The operations depend on the finish, contamination and product. This does not mean every car must have a layer of clear coat removed.
Polishing addresses a separate goal: reducing surface defects that can safely be corrected and improving reflections. It does not repair deep damage, chips or defects within the paint layers. Marks you agree to retain do not become corrected when a coating is applied.
For example, Gtechniq’s Crystal Serum Light instructions call for polishing if required after washing and decontamination. This illustrates one product’s requirements, not a universal procedure or a claim that BESTAUTO uses that product.

After cleaning, inspect defects under suitable lighting, previous repairs, vulnerable edges and local damage. Where applicable, paint measurements and a test spot help select the work. One thickness reading does not automatically identify the remaining clear coat or guarantee that any correction is safe.
Agree which marks can be reduced, which will remain and how the result will be checked. The goal is an accepted appearance within the finish’s limits, rather than removing every scratch at any cost. Some damage calls for repair instead of further polishing.
Passes, products and timing cannot be selected from the phrase “polishing before ceramic” alone. Cars and products differ; no universal duration for this whole sequence is promised here.
A new car may have storage or delivery-preparation marks, but that calls for inspection rather than automatic deep correction. If the defects do not bother you, discuss preparation without visual correction separately.

Matte and satin finishes should not receive conventional gloss correction: local shine can change the finish. With installed film, check cleaner and ceramic compatibility against the film manufacturer’s requirements. Choose the process for the surface already on the car.

Necessary correction and the final quote are agreed after assessing the finish; a package is not automatically required.
Choose protection for your priorities. Ceramic is considered for surface properties and care; PPF for reducing damage risk on covered areas. Neither repairs existing deep damage or prevents every new mark.
Full wrapping or every service combined is not necessary for every car. If film is planned, agree preparation and compatibility in advance: a ceramic layer underneath may conflict with installation requirements. Fresh paint requires separate confirmation of readiness to the manufacturers’ instructions.
