I had my windows tinted — the work was neat, fast and well done. The film went on evenly, with no bubbles and no flaws. I'm very happy with the result.
Car tinting involves fitting automotive film on the inside of the glass. Before fitting, the installer agrees the windows and material, cleans the glass, shapes the film and checks the finish. The adhesive then needs time to dry: ask when to operate the windows and what appearance to expect for your film.
What to decide before fitting
Start with your aim: less glare, reduced solar heat or a different appearance. Compare visible light transmission (VLT) and the specifications of the actual product line. Darkness alone does not indicate heat performance. Our window tint film selection guide explains how to compare these properties.
The guide to tinting rules in Georgia covers different vehicle window types. A film-label percentage is not the finished glass reading.
Five installation stages
- Agree material and scope. Discuss the car, windows, old film, desired appearance and budget. Confirm the material and price before work.
- Prepare the glass. Remove contamination and adhesive residue. Discuss old-film removal separately, with particular attention to heated glass and aerials.
- Fit the film. Cut for the size and shape of the glass. Curved windows may require heat shaping.
- Install. Position film on the prepared inside surface and use tools to remove installation solution and air.
- Check and explain care. Inspect edges, creases and visible defects. Explain when to use the windows and how to clean the surface.
IWFA describes the general preparation and installation sequence. Read our detailed installation guide for the practical stages.
Checking the finish after installation
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Light haze or moisture traces | Ask about expected drying for the product and weather. That sign alone does not establish correct installation or a defect. |
| A crease, lifting edge or persistent bubble | Contact the installer and show the area. Do not puncture or heat it yourself. |
| A small speck under the film | Ask for an assessment. Absolutely dust-free fitting is not guaranteed. |
3M's care guide describes gentle cleaning and a waiting period before opening or cleaning windows for its material. Do not automatically apply one manufacturer's timings to another film.
Aftercare and timing
Once the required drying period ends, use a soft clean cloth and a compatible non-abrasive cleaner. Do not scrape film with rigid tools. See the tinted window care guide.
Installation time and readiness for normal window use are different. The number and shape of windows, old film and glass condition affect the job; agree collection time when booking. The old tint and bubbles guide explains removal considerations.

FAQ
Is tint fitted inside or outside?
Automotive tint is normally installed inside the glass. The outside surface may be used while shaping the film.
Can I lower the windows immediately?
Keep them closed for the waiting period specified for your film. Ask for the timing when collecting the car.
How long does tinting take?
There is no single duration for every car. Tell us the model, windows and old film when booking; agree readiness before work.
Why is the finish not final immediately?
Installation moisture and adhesive need to dry. Contact the installer about creases, lifting edges or doubts; do not repair the film yourself.
Choose a studio and discuss tinting: tell us your car model, windows and whether old film is present.
